A US citizen that has lived in Japan for over twenty years, and taking photos most of the time, covering documentary photography, news photography, travel photography, portraiture, and landscape subjects. Kirt was born on Guam, then moved to North Carolina at the age of 15, then went onto the United States Marine Corps, and finished university at San Francisco State University in 1992. While in university, Kirt worked as a photojournalist for the Nichibei Times, covering San Francisco and Bay Area Asian culture events, politics, and culture. Kirt started with 35 mm at the age of 11 years old, when he got a Ricoh viewfinder camera from his Mom. Then moved onto a Canon AE-1 and A-1, and subsequently DSLR Nikon. Kirt currently uses a variety of equipment in both medium format and 35mm format.
